Rules we keep
Same data for everyone. Scores come from public review platforms and business records.
Small samples don't win. Ratings are adjusted for how many reviews they rest on, and businesses with too few reviews are not ranked.
Every change is logged. Data refreshes regularly and corrections are published.
Businesses can pay us for a claimed profile, leads or competitor reports. None of it touches the score or the order. If a business is a paying customer, its data profile says so. How we make money

Each business gets a score from its rating, review volume, recent reviews, years in business, profile completeness and record checks. The highest scores make the list.
Do businesses pay to be listed on BestOfLocal?
No. Listing is free and paid placements, where shown, are labelled and never change the order.
Is BestOfLocal free to use?
Yes. Browsing the lists and requesting quotes is free.
